Get Duscode.
The desktop app for Windows and Linux, and a terminal app for macOS, Linux and WSL. It updates itself, and every file is signed with Duscode’s release key.
Duscode is in private beta: you’ll need an invite code to sign in. Anyone can download it; signing in to use it needs an invite. No invite yet? Ask for one.
Installing on Windows
Until Duscode’s Windows code-signing certificate arrives, Windows SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC” and calls the publisher unknown. The file is still Duscode’s: check its SHA-256 above if you want to be sure. Then:
- Open the downloaded
Duscode-Setupfile. - On the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen, click More info.
- Click Run anyway. Duscode installs for you, with no administrator rights, and opens.
To check a checksum yourself, open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run Get-FileHash .\Duscode-Setup-*.exe; the hash should match the one shown above.
Installing on Linux
The AppImage runs on most distributions and updates itself: make it executable, then open it.
chmod +x Duscode-*.AppImage ./Duscode-*.AppImage
On Debian or Ubuntu you can install the .deb instead (sudo apt install ./duscode-desktop_*.deb); it doesn’t update itself, so download new versions from this page. Check a file with sha256sum.
The terminal app (macOS, Linux, WSL)
Duscode also runs as a small local server you use in your browser or in VS Code. It needs Node 22 and git. The install script checks every package against the signed release before installing it, and needs no administrator rights.
Install Duscode
curl -fsSL https://duscode.com/releases/beta/cli-any-tgz/install.sh | DUSCODE_CHANNEL=beta shOr download the terminal app package above and run
sh install.sh --from duscode-*.tgz.Check your setup
duscode doctor # checks Node, git, the port and permissions
It prints a fix for anything that’s missing.
Open a project
cd ~/code/my-app duscode
Duscode opens in your browser at
http://localhost:4317/code. Sign in with your invite, then add your AI provider key in Settings → Models & keys.
On Windows without the desktop app, the terminal app runs inside WSL 2: wsl --install in PowerShell as administrator, restart, then follow the steps above in Ubuntu. Keep projects in the Linux file system (for example ~/code/my-app), not under /mnt/c.
VS Code extension
The extension shows the same Duscode workspace inside VS Code and opens files and diffs in VS Code’s own editor. Marketplace listing: Coming soon. Until then, your invite email includes the extension file (duscode.vsix): in VS Code, open Extensions, choose Install from VSIX… and pick it.
