Signing in

Sign in to Duscode with an emailed link or a password, turn on two-step sign-in, sign the app in through your browser, sign out everywhere.

You sign in with a link we email you, or with a password if you add one. Two-step sign-in adds a code from an app on your phone. The app signs in through your browser.

Sign in on the web

1. Go to duscode.com and choose Sign in (top right). Every Sign in and Sign up link leads to the same page.
2. Enter your email and choose Email me a sign-in link.
3. Open the email and choose Sign in on the page it opens. Links work once, for 15 minutes (24 hours when you create an account).

A password and two-step sign-in (optional)

On your account page, choose Security and your data:

• Add password lets you sign in without opening your email (at least 12 characters; a few unrelated words work well). Forgot it? Forgot your password? on the sign-in page emails a reset link; the emailed sign-in link keeps working too.
• Turn on two-step sign-in asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (1Password, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator…) at every sign-in. Keep the ten recovery codes it shows somewhere safe: each works once if you lose your phone. Admin pages need two-step sign-in.

Changing these needs a sign-in from the last 15 minutes, or your current password or code.

Sign the app in

1. In Duscode, open the menu at the top right and choose Sign in….
2. Your browser opens the approval page. Sign in there if you aren't already.
3. Check that the code matches the one Duscode shows, then choose Approve.
4. Choose Back to Duscode. Your plan is active in the app within a few seconds.

The desktop app and the VS Code extension sign in this way. In a terminal, run duscode account login: it prints the link and the code, and waits while you approve it. duscode account status shows the plan; duscode account logout signs this computer out. The app never sees your email, password or the link.

Sign out everywhere

Security and your data lists every browser and app signed in to your account, with Sign out for each. Lost a laptop, or think someone else signed in? Choose Sign out everywhere. It ends every browser session and every signed-in app. You can sign in again straight away.

Your data

On the same page, Download my data gives you everything Duscode Cloud holds about your account as JSON, and Erase my account removes your sign-in, profile, settings and sessions (cancel a paid plan first). Billing records stay for six years because tax law requires it, under an id that no longer leads to you.

If something goes wrong

• "Link expired": links work once, for a short time. Ask for a new one on the sign-in page.
• "Too many sign-in emails": wait the minutes the page shows, then ask for one link. The last link we sent still works.
• "Too many attempts" or "Too many wrong codes": wait the minutes shown. Then start the sign-in again from Duscode's menu and use the new code it shows.
