Your profile and how you work

Your name, photo or character avatar, and commit email in Settings → Account; how commits are authored as you; and How you work, the preferences Dus learns from you.

Your profile is in Settings → Account. Open it from the avatar at the far right of the top bar, then Your profile.

Your details

Field What it is for
Name Shown wherever you appear, and used as the author of commits Dus makes for you
Role or title Shown under your name, for example Founder
Short bio A line or two, up to 280 characters
Time zone Dus uses it for times, schedules and "today". Empty follows this device
Language Dus replies in it unless you write in another. Empty follows this device
Email for commits The address your commits use. See Who commits

Press Save profile to save the changes. Discard changes puts the fields back.

When you are signed in, your profile syncs with Duscode Cloud, so it follows you to your other computers. If the sync fails, the page says so, and your profile stays saved on this computer. In the developer edition the profile stays on this computer.

Your avatar

Click your avatar on the Account page, or Change avatar. You have three choices:

  • Upload photo. Drop a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF of up to 15 MB, or click Choose a photo. Drag the photo, or use the arrow keys, to place your face in the circle. Zoom with the slider, or with + and −. Then press Use this photo. The photo is saved at 256 px, with no location or camera data. Remove photo goes back to your initials.
  • Choose a character. Pick one of sixteen illustrated faces and a background colour.
  • Initials. Shows your initials on the colour you choose.

Your avatar shows in the top bar, the profile menu, Settings and the Team board.

Who commits

You are the author of the commits Dus makes for you. They use your name and your email for commits. Dus is named in a Co-authored-by: Dus line, so the history shows that the work was shared.

If you leave Email for commits empty, Duscode uses one of these, in this order:

  1. Your GitHub private address, if Duscode knows it. GitHub then links the commits to your account. Press Find my GitHub address to look it up. This needs the GitHub CLI, signed in with gh auth login.
  2. The email of your Duscode account.

If your profile has no name or email, commits use your git config. Duscode tells you this the first time it happens.

In Settings → Git:

  • Commit author shows who commits, and where the name and email come from.
  • Name Dus as co-author turns the Co-authored-by line on or off.
  • Sign commits signs Duscode's commits with your SSH or OpenPGP key. Add the key under Signing key. It is kept in the vault and never shown to the model. The key must have no passphrase. Add its public key to GitHub so your commits show as Verified.

How you work

As you work, Dus notices how you like to work, and reads this at the start of each task. Each preference is one short sentence, with the reasons behind it. Click Why? to see the messages and choices it came from, with dates. Anything that went against a preference is marked Against.

Dus learns only from what you do yourself:

  • messages you type
  • approvals you give or decline
  • Looks good and Change something on finished work

Messages from other sessions, web pages and other people never count. Dus learns only how you like to work. It never learns anything personal, such as your health, beliefs, age or background.

Each preference has one of these labels:

  • Confirmed by you: always used.
  • Strong or Growing: used.
  • Weak, not used yet: kept, but Dus waits for more signs before using it.

For each preference you can:

  • ✓ Confirm it, so it is always used.
  • ✎ Edit it into your own words.
  • 🗑 Delete it. Dus won't learn it again.

Add a preference writes one yourself. Forget everything deletes them all. Switch off Learn from how I work to stop learning. Nothing new is noted, and the preferences you have stay until you delete them.

A preference never changes what needs your approval.

Sync to Duscode Cloud is off until you turn it on. When it is on, only the preferences are synced, never your messages. Turning it off deletes the cloud copy. If privacy mode is Local models only, How you work stays on this computer.
