Using the workspace

Settings

Every section of the Settings dialog, from plans and billing, budgets and routing to the editor, git, sessions, privacy and your data, and where each setting is saved.

Open Settings from your profile menu (bottom left) or with Ctrl+, (Cmd+, on a Mac). Search finds any setting by the words you'd use: try invoices, draft, tab size or quiet.

Settings you change here are saved in your own ~/.duscode/config.json, checked before they're saved, and apply to every project. Budgets, routing and the default mode apply to sessions started after the change. Keys never go in this file: add them in Models & keys, or the Vault.

Plans & billing

  • Your plan: Free, Bring your own key, Pro, Max or Team, when it renews (or ends, if you cancelled), or when early access ends, and what it includes.
  • Plans: Free, Bring your own key (£8 a month), Pro (£20 a month, with £14 of usage), Max (£100 a month, with £80 of usage) and Team (£30 per seat, with £20 of usage per seat), the same as on the pricing page. Upgrade opens Stripe Checkout in a new tab. When you come back, the plan refreshes.
  • Credits: the usage your plan includes and which real model answers each Duscode tier. Your balance, top-ups and auto top-up are in Usage (see Pricing and plans).
  • Team seats (Team owners): seats used, Invite by email, Remove a member, or withdraw an invite. Invited people get an emailed link that gives them a seat. Add seats in Manage billing.
  • Billing: Manage billing opens Stripe's own page for invoices, your card, the billing email, seats and cancelling.

In the developer edition every feature is on and the plans are shown for information: Plans apply in released builds.

Models & keys

  • API keys for each provider, checked before they're saved. A provider that is out of credit, or whose key was refused, says so in its row (Out of credit since 14:02 · checking every 15 min), with a Top up link. Saving a new key checks it again at once. See Out of credit.
  • Routing: Economy (the cheapest model likely to succeed), Balanced (the default) or Maximum (the strongest model for every task).
  • Routing tiers: which models answer easy, normal and hard tasks.

Notifications

What notifies you, and where (desktop, Slack, Teams), is set per channel in Integrations. Quiet hours hold every outward message in a time window, overnight included (22:00 until 07:00). Notifications still appear in Duscode's list.

Budgets

Per task and per day, in US dollars. Dus stops and asks before going over either. The daily budget can't be lower than the per-task one. A project's own .duscode/config.json can set different budgets for that project; Settings shows when the open session uses those.

Sessions

  • New sessions work in their own worktree and branch (the default), or the project folder itself.
  • Auto-archive: hide sessions left idle for a number of days. Their chat, branch and worktree stay; Restore brings one back. Pinned sessions and the main session are never archived. 0 turns it off.
  • Worktrees live in .worktrees/ inside the project, kept out of git status.

Editor & terminal

Editor font size, tab size, word wrap, format on save (when the editor has a formatter for the file's language: TypeScript, JavaScript, JSON, CSS and HTML) and the minimap. Terminal font size, the default shell and copy on select.

Git

  • Commit author, from your git config (git config --global user.name, user.email). Duscode never changes it.
  • Branch prefix for session branches (duscode/ by default).
  • Open pull requests as drafts, on GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket.
  • Pull request base: a fixed branch, or empty for the branch the session started from.
  • Commit message style: plain, or Conventional Commits (feat: …, fix: …).

Privacy & data

What stays on your computer (your code, chats, journal, memory, keys and usage) and what leaves it (what a task needs goes to the AI provider you chose, with your key; in released builds Duscode Cloud holds your email, plan and licence). Duscode sends no analytics, telemetry or crash reports. See also Your data.

  • Export this project's data: a zip of its chats, journal, audit log and usage.
  • Delete this project's history: its finished chats, journal and audit log, after a confirm. Open chats, your code, branches and memory stay.

General

Appearance (mode, colour theme, text size, width, motion), and language and region: the date and number format, and the currency for costs. Until you choose one, it's Automatic: pounds when your date and number format, or your browser, is British English, and US dollars otherwise. Providers bill in US dollars; pounds are an estimate marked ≈, at the exchange rate you set.

About & updates, Advanced

The version you're running and a link to the latest download. Advanced shows where settings are saved, copies diagnostics for a bug report (version, OS and environment; no keys, code or personal details) and resets settings to their defaults. Keys, the vault, providers, models and appearance are kept.
